is a Wedgewood china plate of the bell tower at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. It is a lovely scene with a southern pine tree and the ivy climbing on college walls. It shows how the bell tower looked at the old campus many years ago before it was moved to the present campus. Around the edges are clusters of rhododendron or mountain laurel and some other kind of leaves laying on a basket weave pattern. The plate is in mauve on a white or cream color. It is a prettier color than it looks in the photo and not as reddish. Folks who have attended or visited Furman would love to have this plate. This plate is approximately 10 1/4" in diameter. On the back is BELL TOWER FURMAN UNIVERSITY First Edition WEDGWOOD OF ETRURIA BARLASTON Made in England. Also t is JONES McDUFFEE & STRATTON Co BOSTON. Stamped on the plate before glazing is WEDGEWOOD 5Y52 and t is a 7 stamped on the back also. I think this is about 48 years old, but am not exactly sure. It has never been used for food or anything else. T is some slight crazing from age on the back. Insurance is required for this item and t is a $1.50 handling fee. Postage may be more depending on how much the final package will weigh. I will do my best to wrap this plate securely to prevent breakage.
