Hello! You are bidding on a used (but very nicely kept) Gabriel Custom Cues prototype break cue. This cue was built as a design study by Gabriel Custom Cues of Fort Scott, Kansas. It was a prototype for a series of cues released in late 2007. The cue model is called the "Future Cannon" due to its' futuristic styling and design elements. The cue features a Brazilian Cherry grip, Maple forearm, and an African Ipe break shaft. The grip has several nice contemporary and innovative design features. T are four machined finger index grooves in the grip to allow you to index the cue in your hand so you break in exactly the same position every time. This feature allows a player to add consistency and repeatability to their break shot. The buttcap is machined from solid billet aluminum, and polished to a bright shine. A stainless allen-head machine screw holds the buttcap on the bottom of the cue, lending another nice touch to the overall futuristic look of the cue. The cue features a simple combination of black trim rings and tan phenolic rings between the woods and at the joint. A black G-10 glass-epoxy 3/8x10 joint pin is brutally strong and can withstand the wicked punishment from hard breaks.The cue is signed and titled and dated by the cuebuilder as seen in the photo below.The cue weighs 16.8 ounces, a weight that allows both extremely quick acceleration of the cue, and precision cueball control. The cue is 54" long. You grip the cue at the bottom enlarged end instead of the center of the butt section with regular-length cues. This design keeps all of the weight forward of your grip hand which also allows for better cueball control during breaking. T is no change to your stroke compared with a standard 58" cue, the difference in length is all due to the lack of wood behind your grip hand. The taper is a proprietary modified straight-break taper. African Ipe is extremely dense and makes a phenomenal break shaft wood. The ferrule and tip are one of Gabriel Custom Cues "Super-G Jump Break Ferrule/Tip Combos". It is a one-piece phenolic ferrule and tip combination, domed with a .250" thick phenolic tip to prevent cracking and chunking like you see in other phenolic tips sold by non-cuebuilders. As an early pioneer in phenolic tip development and testing, Gabriel observed and noted the design flaws of other phenolic product makers. This design can withstand the brutal abuse of even the strongest power-breakers. This cue is used, but in almost perfect original condition. It comes with a matching joint protector as well. This cue was extensively used and tested in a tournament setting by Gabriel as he analyzed and studied the design and functionality of the cue. T are only a few blemishes on the cue as a result of the testing and usage, overall the cue is in excellent shape. The cue was retired in '08 and has seen almost no usage since then. It has been kept in climate controlled storage and only brought out for show and for historical study and comparison to subsequent, highly popular and successful production models. This cue has remained in the possession of the cuebuilder since it was completed, and is one of only a few actual prototypes ever sold by Gabriel.
