After many months, I am back with more exceptional estate items! You are bidding on an extremely rare sterling fish slice that is hallmarked GALE DOMINICK & HAFF STERLING. This fish slice would have been made between 1870 and 1872. Dominick & Haff had been established in 1821 as William Gale & Son and in 1872 the company changed it's name to Dominick & Haff. According to Dorothy Rainwater's Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers the hallmark on this piece, GALE DOMINICK & HAFF, was used between 1870 and 1872. The slice measures 12 3/4" long and is 2 3/8" at the widest portion of the blade. The crisp engravings to the blade are particularly nice! T is an elaborate and beautiful monogram "WB" as seen in the photos. The slice is in beautiful condition with just the slightest bend in the handle from usage over time (see photo).
