This thermometer can be displayed suspended from a strudy tree branch or hung from an eyebolt or similiar hook and chain indoors or out!!! Unique and a great converstation piece!!! Be sure to look at the pictures!! This ancient weather instrument was invented by Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) An Italian mathematician, physicist, astronomer and inventor. This thermometer works based on his discovery that density of liquids change as temp varies. Each glass sp is exactly weighted by partially filling the sps with liquid. When the temp rises the liquid in the galss cylinder becomes less dense and the sps sink slowly to the bottom.
