Galle Lamp This lamp is made from the original Galle Molds. under the authorization of the French Government .It is made from old Galle molds which are owned by the French Gov. The artists who were working at the School of Art in Nancy France when it closed in 1958 are the same artists that made this lamp. It is a rare treasure. I do have certificates of Authenticity for the lamp, It is signed Galle and could be sold for antique, I am sure. But it is current. Mint condition. Size: Dia of shade, 9 inches Height of lamp with shade: 12.5 inches Both the Shade and Bottom light In 1995, Foreign Affair International reached an agreement with the French Council of Arts and representatives of the Art Nouveau School of Nancy to resume the production of Art Nouveau pieces. These pieces are hand made on the original molds, with the original designs and original colors that the French masters have used in the 19th and 20th centuries. Despite the fact that today reproductions are attempted, due to the unique nature of the process the quality is poor and cannot match the original. Due to the elevated demand, in 2001 Foreign Affair International has extended the agreement to have these pieces produced. Furthermore all peices bearing different names, Charder, Galle, Daum are done on that particular original mold and design is not altered. The vases have 9 layers of glass and the lamps and chandeliers have 12. They are hand painted and hand etched. Master glassblowers that have worked in the Art Nouveau School of Nancy and then under the tutelage of the French Council of Arts produce the pieces. The certificate is a copy of a portion of the document signed between FAI and the Council of Arts. Due to French labor laws, the certificate states that the pieces are produced in France and Italy. This is actually not correct since all pieces are handmade in France. However, all the master glassblowers working on the pieces are over 65 and tfore cannot work part-time. This is why it is stated that they are made both in France and Italy. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Gazebo If you will notice, I have listed at a fair starting price, not some low number to see what is bid. I do not play games with pricing. The lamps are fabulous. They will add beauty to any home.
