Another lovely item from my late Mother's Estate. Far too formal for my more modest lifestyle. It looks wonderful in my display cabinet, but I believe she would have wanted it used in an appreciative home. The set would benefit from a good polish. Gallia Coffee Pot, Cream Jug and Covered Sugar. Wooden handles on the Coffee jug and cream jug, believed to be Palisandre (African Tulip wood), solid handles on the sugar bowl. Very light scratch marks on the bases, two small dents near the bottom of the cream jug, another slightly larger one near the base of the sugar bowl.. O. Gallia mark on the base of all items, another very small mark which looks like a crown but could be something else -need a stronger magnifier- appears on the base of the sugar and creamer. All pieces also have a number 5992 on the bases. The coffee pot has a unique ":beak" like spout. The hinge of the lid to the coffee pot needs to be repaired. The sugar bowl appears to not have been used as often as the gold wash on the interior is still bright. I am not an expert, but I believe the shape is from the Art Deco period. I can't find any Christofle marks on these items, though I am told by Christofle, that this mark is from the 1920's. They stated that the Christofle name was not always added to Gallia pieces made in that period.
