New condition 14" tall doll, vinyl, original Gambina doll-hand made in New Orleans-dressed circa 1850, with her basket of praline candy-posable head, arms, & legs-comes with original tag, attached on apron-also comes with doll stand--THE PRALINE LADY CORA, #153, G.V. Gambina, Inc. UPC 6098481800. Not recommended for children under 5 years. Cora stands about 14" high. Her head, arms & legs are posable. Doll stand, white, metal, with base about 3 1/2" across. Doll apron tag , about 2 5/8" x 2 5/8", 2 pgs., double-sided, folded over. Apron tag [taking up 2 pgs., reads 'CORA circa 1850 The street vendor was common in days long ago. Ladies with baskets of vegetables and fruit or sweets that they had grown, gathered or made would pass through town calling out for residents to buy their goods. Cora represents that industrious woman of the mid-19th century, who, after caring for her family, would make that cane sugar and pecan treat, the praline. She became known as the Praline Lady and her walk through town was eagerly anticipated by all. Our Praline lady, Cora, is dressed in a typical outfit for a person of her time and carries a cane basket filled with praline candy.' Inside near bottom of dress she's wearing has attached label tag including bar code with UPC. Her apron near lower left corner is embroidered in orange/red, 'New Orleans. read more
