GAR / Grand Army of the Republic Horseshoe Plaque Trivet The GAR was a fraternal organization founded in 1866 for veterans of the Civil War. The organization was formally dissolved in 1956 after the death of their last surviving member. This GAR trivet is particularly collectible because it features a variation of the eagle topper. you will see the eagle, but it's perched upon two cannons and their cannonballs. An American flag is draped underneath and in the center of the design is the GAR five-pointed star. Offered with a Low Reserve, this is a handsome trivet for the serious collector.
