Up for sale is a set of pins that would have been handed out by the GAR to what I think were mostly kids at Memorial Day Parades. The gentleman that had these says that he remembers seeing them in a catalog that he thinks was dated 1909. I don't know the manufacture's name, but he got them out of a warehouse in Cincinnati. The pins themselves (old dress pins I guess) are three inches tall. As assembled the paper flags are 2" by 1 3/8". The first one has a shield with a soldier on one side and a sailor on the other. There is an eagle on top of the shield, and the three world mission of the GAR: Fraternity, Charity, and Loyalty. The second one is a recreation of the membership badge for the GAR. The third one says "Welcome Comrades" and features a classic GAR symbol with the canteen that reads "We Drank From The Same Canteen 1861 - 1865." It then has the initials "GAR" overlaying each other in the center. Please e-mail with any questions. I will ship these in a rigid mailer to help preserve them for another hundred years! Thanks for looking, Kevin
