ALL SOLID PA BLACK CHERRY HARDWOOD (except for the 8 Cocobolo Bowties, Butterflies or Dutchman) Wood Slab Bench In the style of George Nakashima Handcrafted By me, Ted Frumkin. This Heirloom quality piece measures 77" in length. The 17 to 19" deep seat sits 16 high from the floor, with the back rising 14 to 19" above that, for a total height of 33.5". The total depth of the piece is 24" 100% Solid Cherry, all from the same log. A giant western PA Black Cherry Butt Log, I bought from the local Amish & milled myself. These Slabs were stacked & airdried for over 18 months, then put in my low temp dehumidification kiln for 3 weeks. Allowing for perfectly cured & dried slabs for this beautiful piece. The "Butt Log" is the first log from the ground & Besides being the biggest, butt logs like this one contain far better, richer, Color & grain. As you can see in the pics, this in no run of the mill log or bunch of slabs. Then at the same time, the butt logs will tend to check, split, or just get cracks. After being stabelized in the kiln & with time, I added the 8 butterflies mostly for beauty, but also for peace of mind in knowing that with the added strenth the structual integrity of the piece increased tenfold! The Bowties are the exotic cocobolo wood & freehand cut with router & chisel. Discretely Branded with my signature Branding - (My initials and the year of creation) - to ensure the highly potential collector's value on this piece.. this one in particular will only increase in value due to the artistic thought & energy dedicated to bringing this bench to life, from the log to the designed piece ...My pieces are created with a lot of heart , I would do this my whole life even if I didnt get paid to, because I love it so much!! My heart and soul was poured into this particular piece and I am really happy and confident with the results!!! I guarantee that you will be too!!!
