Gary Sheffield's 500 Career Homerun Citi Field Ticket against the Milwaukee Brewers, Friday, April 17, 2009 also it's the Mets 2nd winning game at the newly opened Citi Field. Gary Sheffield, nephew of Dwight Gooden hit his 500th HR as a pinch hitter at Citi Field. This home run tied the score in the 7th inning & the Mets went on to win the game in the 9th inning by a score of 5-4. Sheffield became the first player to hit his 500 career home run while wearing a NY Mets uniform. Sheffield becomes the 25th player in Major League history to hit 500 home runs.
