This is an authentic unused Argentinian gaucho knife, or facon, purchased in Argentina. These are traditionally worn on the belt of the Argentinian cowboy. The carbon steel blade is 6.25" long. The overall length of the knife is 10.5 inches. In it's sheath the entire length is 11.75". The knife and sheath weigh 9.4 ounces. T is a belt clip on the sheath which reads Achaly Alpaca. The knife handle and sheath are beautifully ornate, hand worked alpaca silver which doesn't tarnish as quickly as fine silver. The blade is hand forged from carbon steel, is very thick and has never been sharpened. Deeply etched on the blade are the words "Atahualpa Tandil Argentia", reflecting w the knife was made. This knife has never been used and the blade has never been sharpened.
