This auction is for a very special item. A vintage 1970 "Ain't Gonna Work on Dizzys Farm No More" Blacklight Poster, drawn by Petagno. Made by Gawdawful Graphics, this very rare poster is unused and uncirculated. It was discovered along with a stash of other unopened posters last year. The poster pictured is not the one you will receive. This poster was removed from its original wrapper that still had the original price tag on it, to inspect it for any age related defects and to get a photo. The colors are rich and vibrant. The winning bidder will receive an unopened poster. I will open it to inspect it prior to shipment if you instruct me to. It is 35 x 21 inches. The history is what makes this poster and the series it was produced in unique . Gadawful graphics produced and marketed these posters for a very short time before they were sued by the Disney Corp. for obvious reasons. We just can't have Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofey getting stoned and saying things like "ain't gonna work on Dizzys farm no more". All the stores that stocked them had to pull them and stop selling them and most stores destroyed them. The story of the find and a reasonable quarantee of their authenticity is below, if you're interested. I went to an auction at the Florin Mall in Sacramento, CA last summer. This mall, built in the 60's (the construction time is important), was being torn down to build a new Walmart Superstore and all the remaining inventory and store fixtures were up for auction. I purchased quite abit and had to return, with my son as a helper, to dismantle and retrieve many loads of materials. We were salvaging alot of 1/2 inch storefront glass, which was time consuming, so we were the last people to be working in the mall. I received permission from the mall manager to salvage basically anything we wanted as the place was just going to be bulldozed. We scoured the place and found 2 stores that had large basement rooms. One of these basements, which was cool and dry, was loaded with inventory from way back. Most of it was junk, old shoes, ad signs, nothing of value. My son, however, found a fairly large box full of rolled and flat posters and opened a rolled one. He thought it was cool (he's 21), so he grabbed the whole box. I didn't think anything more of it until he called me and said he had done some research and filled me in on the story of Gawdawful Graphics. I will be listing a limited quantity of different, vintage 1970-1974 posters for him. He gets all the proceeds- it was his find. They will surely appreciate in value, so don't miss out on this opportunity. Payment must be received within 7 days unless other arrangements are made.
