The Gazette du Bon Ton was created in October 1912 as an elegant and expensive periodical devoted to the Parisian high fashion for the elite. Not only The Gazette presented the clothing but also the attitudes and the culture of a society changing significantly and rapidly. The Gazette illustrations testify such arts as Orientalism, Cubism, les Fauves, Art Deco and Art Nouveau, all having a deep influence on the period. Highly stylized, the Pochoirs were carefully hand colored with rich and vivid colors on a luxury hand made paper.Lucien Vogel had a team of artists, including Georges Lepape, Charles Martin, Pierre Brissaud, Georges Barbier and many others that created all the drawings illustrating the last creations of Paris fashion houses such as Worth, Lanvin, Doucet, Poiret, Paquin. Some illustrations represented also the idea that the artist had of the fashion of the day.. Each plate was a rarity, less than 2000 copies being produced per issue.
