This is a GE Kenotron Regulator tube designated as type TB-1 by the US Army Signal Corps in1918. About 4,500 of these were delivered to Signal Corps during World War One, and few survive today. WWI aircraft used wind driven generators mounted under their belly to supply power to their radios and what little other electrical equipment they carried. This tube was socketed in the hub of the generator to provide regulation of its output. See Saga of the Vacuum Tube by Gerald Tyne for more information. The tube has a brass base and three pins instead of the customary four. The filament continuity tests intermittent when tapped. The designatorTB-1 is stamped clearly on the glass and is also hand written in black ink on the glass arbor inside the tube. This tube is a piece of radio history and makes a great display and conversation piece. I make every attempt to describe items completely and accurately, and to show any flaws clearly in the photographs. Questions are invited and will be answered promptly. Phone number is required from international bidders in order to ship Air Parcel Post. Check out my other items ! Be sure to add me to your favorites list !
