Here's an unusually clean find for the antique live steam enthusiast. This platform steam engine toy was made by Bing in Nurenburg, Germany during the teens or 1920s. Catalog number is 70/120/3. Dimensions are approximately 7-1/4-inches long x 5-1/2-inches wide x 6-inches tall. Bing Werke 'BW' logo can be seen on cylinder which is powered by a steam feed line with oiler that has directions stamped in both English and German. This toy appears to be complete with the exception of a nut to hold the cylinder's drive rod to the flywheel and its ornately decorated spokes. You'll notice some tarnish and spots of corrosion on the sight glass end of brass boiler, and I'm sure a knowledgeable hobbiest can clean this up. Original paint on iron base has held up very well, with the exception of expected minor bubbling and chipping on the side closest to boiler and removable tin fuel source tray. Overall, engine rates Very Good to VG+ condition. A worthy addition to any collection.IMPORTANT NOTE: Your feedback rating must include at least 20 comments to participate in this auction.
