1950's Phil Stern (b.1929), gelatin silver print large format photograph, Marilyn Monroe Children's Benefit at Shrine Auditórium 1953, Signed and Stamped on verso. Since the late 1930s till today, photojournalist and portraitist, Phil Stern has been one of the most important and celebrated American photographers. His work has spanned almost 60 years and has been featured in publications as varied as Stars and Stripes and Life Magazine . This photo is taken during a charity event. Stern describes the photo of Monroe, with a surprised look on her face, as a fluke. He was waiting for the right moment to shoot, suddenly Monroe gave a twitch and he captured her with a horrified look on her face, as if she had some private revelation that she was in the middle of a nightmare, Hollywood.
