This is an ORIGINAL ONE SHEET POSTER from this grand Western Drama released in 1940 by Republic Pictures......."Gaucho Serenade". This is a really fun Saturday Matinee type flick that fun to watch. Gene Autry plays himself as a local rancher who sings a bit on the side. His sidekick is Frog Millhouse played again by Smiley Burnette. The two get involved in the life of a child Ronnie Willoughby [Clifford Severn] who has just returned from his schooling in England.He has stowed-away with Gene and Frog as they begin the long drive home with Champion in the trailer after appearing at Madison Square Gardens in New York city. Ronnie thought the two were the men sent to meet him upon his return. His father Frederick played by Lester Mathews has given the impression that he is a wealthy ranch owner but in fact he is about to do a stretch in San Quintin. He is there because of being framed for a crime commited by the officials at the packing plant he is employed at. Badmen Carter, Jenkins and Martin...William Ruhl, Ted Adams and Joseph Criehan have hatched a plan to keep Frederick Willoughby from testifing against the three in court...to kidnap young Ronnie. The women join the storyline as Joyce [June Storey] and her young sister Patsy [Mary Lee] are picked up along the road hitching. Joyce is what you would call a runaway bride. Everyone read more
