General Electric FM/AM Portable Eleven Transistor Radio Model P-865 Very nice looking vintage GE FM/AM Radio from about 1962, complete with Sams Photofact service information and original full-page magazine ad in black and white. Eleven transistors, and operates on six "D" cell batteries. Will run a long time on one set!. Sound is quite amazing from the 5 1/4" speaker. Clearly laid out dial scale has push button for illumination at night. (works) Left side has volume and bass-treble rotary controls. In the center is a slide switch for FM or FM/AFC. On the right side is a rotary control for selecting AM or FM and the tuning dial. Dial moves across scale quite nicely. Front is chrome plated metal construction. Has very minor pitting of chrome in two or three very small places but not very noticeable (my opinion). Speaker grille is also metal and in very good condition. T is a small spot on the lower right corner of grill, but may clean up nicely. Carry strap on top is cracked in the middle, but not broken in two. Maybe this can be repaired. (see picture) Has telescoping antenna for FM reception, and also an external connection on back for FM. AM antenna is internal. Battery compartment and cover is on bottom and in pretty good shape. T is slight corrosion on a couple of the battery terminals, but I think can be cleaned up and doesn't seem to affect operation of radio. Sold as is, w is, with no warranties expressed or implied. Thank you for viewing this auction and reading the fine print. Good luck.
