World War II historical buffs and former Marines, 's your opportunity to catch a little piece of history! This items is a signed photo from LtGen Leo J. Dulacki, USMC (Ret)! During World War II, he served with the Marine Detachment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hornet. He was with this unit during teh Doolittle Tokyo bombing raid and when the carrier was sunk during the Battle of Santa Cruz on Oct. 26, 1942. He later became Commanding Officer of the Marine Detachment aboard the USS Belleau Wood, serving t until it was damaged off the Philippines in October 1944. Among his many post-WWII achievements are earning the Legion of Merit w/ 3 gold stars and with Combat V, Distinguished Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 13 stars, and other medals on the "fruit salad" on his uniform! Lieutenant General Leo J. Dulacki retired from active duty on Jan. 1, 1974 following 32 years of active duty. The photo is 8 x 10 inches, black and white printed. The note and signature are hand signed, not printed or stamped. T is a slight tear on the right side of the photo, but the photo is intact overall, and will look great framed!
