Betty Crocker sponsored this Automatic Toaster (Model 5 A) made by General Mills beginning in the late 1940's until the mid 1950's. Toaster comes with original box and operating pamphlet. Toaster heated up when tested, probably could use a good cleaning before the morning toasting. Toaster has original cloth cord, which has had electrical tape applied at the entrance to the toaster (no sparks when plugged into wall socket). Chrome body of toaster rests upon a Bakelite body - t is a crack in the Bakelite of approximately 3 1/2 inches at the side which contains the operating red knob. Chrome surface is good, a few light small scratches from use and handling. Box shows some wear along edges; small hole on top lid; stained area on one side; overall color bright, some soiling from age and storage; box has no rips or tears, overall fair condition, would be fine for display.
