This is a rare1920's General Radio Company AM broadcast band early battery operated signal generator. This was a top of the line piece of equipment in its day and its craftsmanship is really beautiful inside the cabinet. It needs an "A" battery of 1 1/2 volts filament for the two #12 vacuum tubes and it also needs about 45 and 65 volts "B" batterys to operate. (this is clearly marked) Its output into my Helper RF millivoltmeter read about -20 dbm output to the attenuator which agrees with the attenuator dial maximum on the front panel. Its internal AM modulation also works and has an input for external modulation. It has some minor cosmetic blemishes on cabinet but is really nice for being about 80 years old. T is also a small amount of battery corrosion in the stainless steel battery tray under the chassis. This would make for a nice antique test bench item or to go with your nice radios on display, or even a great gift or donation to that antique radio club.
