General Robert E. Lee Bust Sculpture made from Death Mask. An Original Life-size work of art Handcrafted especially for you. Robert E Lee (1807 - 1870 ) . Robert E. Lee Is respected by all for his integrity in leadership. "Do your Duty in all things. You cannot do more, You should never wish to do less." Lee.The original cast was taken Oct 12th 1870 by Clark Mills immediatly upon General Lee's Death. Lee Graduated from West Point in 1829 second in his class. In 1831 he married Mary, Daughter of the adopted son of George Washington. In 1861 Lee was strongly against secession but felt obliged to be on the side of Virginia his home state. Federal Authorities offered Lee the command of the Army to invade the South. Lee refused and went to Richmond. He was made a Brigadier General in the Confederate Service. This sculpture started with an actual death cast mask of Robert E. Lee taken in 1870. See photo below. Then it has been sculpturaly enhanced by me Erick Erickson. The Hair, eye brows and beard have been added. The eyes have been sculpted open reflecting determination. The Uniform, collar and cravat are all cast fom the real things so you can see every stitch. The detail is what makes it live. The result is now when you look at this work of art it is Robert E. Lee just as he sat for the photos by Julian Vannerson in 1863. Now you read more
