General Service Medal with Clasp Borneo General Service Medal 1962 was instituted under Army Order 61, 1964 and superceded both the Naval General service medal 1909-62 and the General Service Medal 1918-62 (Army and Raf) There have been 13 clasps awarded before it was replaced by the Operational Service Medal. The clasps are Borneo, Radfan, South Arabia, malay Peninsula, South Vietnam, Northern Ireland, Dhofar, Lebanon, Mine Clearance - Gulf of Suez, Kuwait, N.Iraq & S. Turkey and Air Operations Iraq. Borneo clasp was awarded for service between 24 December 1962 and 11 August 1966 During the Borneo Campaign a Victoria Cross was awarded to Lance Corporal Rambahadur Limbu, 2/10 Princess Marys Gurkha Rifles, Sarawak on the 21 November 1965 Potted history post WWII for the Royal Hampshires or Tigers as they were known as The Regiment was reduced to one battalion in 1949 and subsequently served with distinction in the Malayan Emergency from 1953 to 1956. After a three year tour in Germany , they moved to the West Indies in 1960 where their tasks varied from quelling uprisings in Jamaica , to hurricane relief in British Honduras and containing a major riot in British Guiana .
