2751-08 ~ Up for auction is a beautiful large size Genesee dart/spear point in a great display mount. The point is a great example measuring around 2 7/8" long. The point comes with a descriptive label which states "Genesee point found in Central and Western New York especially in the Genesee Valley of New York. Age rage form Middle to Late Archaic 2980-1723BC. Used as darts or spear points, made of Onondaga chert". This information was derived from 2 booklets. The first printed by the New York State Museum entitled "a Typology and Nomenclature for New York Projectile Points" printed in 1961. The second is entitled "Projectile Point Typology for Pennsylvania and the Northeast" by Gary Fogelman. The display case measures 5" x 6" and would make a perfect gift for any Hunter, Native American student or History lover. The point is made from a Onondaga chert/flint. Thank you for looking.
