The Transformers GENESIS: THE ART OF TRANSFORMERS Hard Cover Collectors Edition - Bonus BotCon Exclusive Art - Image comics = 2003 DESCRIPTION This auction is for a 1st edition, hardback copy of Genesis: The Art of Transformers . It was published by Image Comics in September 2003 in Canada and features character art from artists such as Pat Lee, Guido Guidi, Don Figueroa, E.J. Su, HM Brundrant III, Dan Khanna. James Raiz, Mainframe Productions, and many more. The artwork features characters from the Generation 1 (or G1), Beast Wars , Beast Machines , and Robots in Disguise (or RID) storylines. For example, Mainframe provided a few group shots of CGI characters from the Beast Wars TV show. This book originally retailed for $30 USD, but it usually sells for much more than that now, because it has been out of print for some time. I purchased this one myself when it was first published. BONUS: Also included with this art book is two pieces of artwork which were available at BotCon. The first is a picture of G1 Optimus Prime with Rodimus Prime which was illustrated in 2002 by Makoto Ono, aka "Makotron." The second piece is a picture of G1 Optimus Prime from BotCon 2004. It is titled "Portrait of an Icon" and was illustrated by Erik Sturdevant.This hardback book comes in used but excellent condition. It was only flipped through a few times and has just been sitting on the bookshelf all of these years. Its dust jacket is showing very minor scuffing (ignore the reflection from the camera flash), and the interior of the book is pristine. The two BotCon illustrations are also in very good condition, having been stored away all of these years, too. The Makotron picture has a mild bend across one corner that is not really noticeable unless the light is reflecting off of it. See photos for details.
