An internet search reveals: "In the 1960s, the Army fielded an anti-fragmentation helmet, the AFH-1. This helmet incorporated nine plies of ballistic nylon fabric cast in a resin matrix. The AFH-1 provided protection against ballistic fragments (Latnick, 1967), but aviators considered it too heavy to be worn for long duration missions, and it was eventually abandoned."This is a pretty good example of the product. It is complete with earphone assemblies MX-2088/U, boom mounted mic M-87/AIC, mic cord CX-4434/U, visor cover and clear visor. The visor has some light scratches, see the photos. The chin strap assembly foam is shot and has broken down to the consistency of sand. Also, one chin strap screw is missing: see photos. Otherwise, all is absolutely authentic.I have no way to test the avionics, so I cannot guarantee that they are in working condition.
