You are bidding on a authentic Gentex HGU-68/P Tactical Jet Flight Helmet. This is a ''flight used" helmet that belonged to a Navy pilot that originally flew a P-3 Orion and then transition to fly the new EA18-G "Growler" electronic warfare aircraft. The helmet shows that transition. It still bears the insignia from VQ-2 Reconaissance squadron. The original owner used this helmet while flying with VAQ-129 during his transition and qualification in the EA-18 G.. You can still see where the original holes were while the helmet still had a boom mike and different communications configuration. It also still has original visor set up which is no longer used in the fleet. Most, if not all , Navy Tac-Jet helmets were modified (I believe around 2008-09) by having the visor and track assembly removed and replaced with just a visor that attaches and functions just like on a HGU-55. The tag under the liner is dated 10/2001 , Size is Large and all communications are intact and were working fine when the helmet was retired. Also included in the auction is a MBU-12/P oxygen mask that is in Exc. condition and was hardly used before he was issued a new helmet and combat edge mask. This is your chance to own a RARE item that was used during missions for both OIF & OEF as well as missions in Djibouti Africa and joint drug interdiction in South America. read more
