Gents vintage 9ct 9k solid gold Omega Seamaster Geneve wristwatch History & Overview The "Omega" watch company needs very little introduction to anyone who knows about watches, it has an illustrious history and reputation that matches and even surpasses some of the biggest names in watchmaking history around, including Rolex. Omega's history includes the creation of some of the first officially recognised chronometres, created the first watch to land on the moon, is closely linked with the world's most famous spy (James Bond, in case you were wondering), has been the timekeeper for many olympic world records, and is said to be globally recognised by 7 out of 10 people in the world. The watch on auction here is a gent's solid gold Omega geneve, 100% original, 100% working, and strap & casing 100% solid gold! The Casing The casing is hallmarked on the back inner casing with a London Hallmark for 9ct solid gold with assay mark for 1972. Maker's mark naturally is the Omega watch company on the back inner casing, which also features the Omega imprint. The casing is approx 34mm in diameter (not including crown), and is free of any damage, wear or personalised engravings. The crown is also original to the watch, exhibiting the " W" again in raised relief. THe glass does have a few very mild surface scratches, which are generally invisible, but detectable as they cast shadows on the dial. The casing is a top-loader, which means that the internals are accessed through the front of the watch, and not the back as is usually the case. The Dial The dial is in incredibly clean condition, featuring a soft-grained gilt brush effect finish with raised gold & black arabic numeral markers, and centre sweep seconds. The dial has no signs of wear, damage, discolouration or any other type of aberration that would normally affect a dial. It looks pristine. The Omega logo is picked out again in raised relief and imprinted to the dial's face os "Omega", and "Geneve" The Movement As expected of an Omega movement, the internals of the watch are stunning. The movement is Swiss-made, copper flashed throughout, and very claen and smooth running order. The movement is a calibre 601, 17 jewels, adjusted to 2 positions, and bears serial number beginning 2921, which dates the watch to circa 1970. It is surprisingly a very large movement, but it is also very well-housed in the watch casing. The watch has been monitored over a considderable amount of time, and is not found wanting whatsoever, keeping very respectable timing over a 48 hour period with no problem whatsoever. Synopsis The watch is sold as original and authentic. If the pictures detailing the movement and hallmarkings don't conince you, my policy that I fully refund on all items discovered to be fake will.
