I Am Going to Sell Some of My Collection in the Next Couple Months, So Please Check My Auctions from Time to Time. A very nice Ancient Mayan Bowl in the Copador style. Dating to to the Late Classic Period, ca 550 Ad to 900 AD. Showing two individuals in the prone position with arms in the extended position. A band of Pseudo-Glyphs around the inside of the bowl. All in good to fair condition showing wear to the inside and bottom mostly. One repair to a two inch break on the rim side with a chip missing. Light wear to the graphs on the side and base. The bowl measures a little over 5 1/2 " across the top, 2 1/2 " tall, and 3 3/8" across the base. Most artifacts are from ancient tombs in Mexico. The Pre-Columbian peoples of this region decorated ceramics were used in feasting rituals and burial offerings for the dead. Some of the pottery includes images that may represent underworld guides for the souls of the dead. This Pre-Columbian bowl was purchased at an estate out of Texas many years ago. AGE: 550 - 900 AD CONDITION: Intact in good to fair shape but worn with one hairline crack repaired and only on chip on rim. (Please see pictures) DIMENSIONS: 2 1/2" high and 5 1/2" in diameter.
