Genuine, 100% guaranteed, Spirit of Ecstacy mascot probably Silver Spirit sort of period.Excluding the unmilled billet, it measures just over 12cm from the bottom of the base to the highest part of the wing. The base itself is around 1.6 cm in height so the mascot part proper is around 10.5 cm. Chromed.I have sold RR mascots ( all from the same ex employee source) before. There are always questions regarding authenticity which I fully understand given the numbers of fakes there are out there. Normally the question relates to whether there is any reference to "Rolls Royce" around the base. I dont profess to be an expert but my understanding is that not all later mascots had that writing on in any case - just the Shadow ones?? What however is probably more relevant is that the quality testing procedure at the factory on these was very strict, and mascots could be rejected for the slightest flaw at different stages of the manufacturing process. As a result, unfinished mascots ( different stages) were available and should probably have been destroyed but I suspect many were not. In the good old days, I understand that they were available to employees from the company shop but I dont think that will have survivred into the later years more's the pity!.This particular example is clearly unfinished as the billet from which the fixing bracket would have been milled is untouched. It is probably a reject - when I say reject, I cant find anything wrong with it, but then i'm not trained as a RR inspector! It has been chromed and is excellent.
