Genuine Mizuno Toshikata (1866-1908) Japanese Woodblock Print on Paper.Measures 14" across x 9.5"Good Condition. Never folded nor rolled. No bends, tears nor holes. There is darkened age-toning along borders that does not overly intrude into the graphic.Contrast presents more vibrantly in person.Please forward any questions.Cheers!~Combined shipping Available. The very last photo is taken of the reverse held toward sunlight.I was confused as how to approach describing these (not being an art dealer/expert) and may have done them a disservice:I purchased these is a boxed lot of ephemera from an estate.I took them to the Verne Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio to be appraised.The curator specialized in Japanese art. and his family has been specializing in this since 1955.He stated that they were created in the LATE 19th century.The reason why they are called "prints" is that an original woodblock could make about 250 impressions....thus "multiple prints".They are on paper...but I'm not sure what kind (perhaps mulberry?)He was able to authenticate the Toshikata signatures, but not the others (well, not without a fee!...his appraisal on value was such that I am taking a risk starting low hoping they find there way into the hands of those who will appreciate read more
