A rare and genuine Waterloo Wellington 1915 Medal . Inscribed Robert Allum Private Royal Waggon Train. . Genuine medal with ribbon and original suspender. Recorded as being Ex Payne Collection 1911. One of only 32 recorded medals issued for the Royal Waggon Train of some 276 men. Representing only 11% known recorded medals. Some contact marks and one small slight edge abrasion . Generally very good. The first uniformed transport corps in the British Army was the Royal Waggoners, formed in 1794. It was not a success and was disbanded the following year. In 1799, the Royal Waggon Corps was formed; by August 1802, it had been renamed the Royal Waggon Train. This was reduced to only two troops in 1818 and finally disbanded in 1833.
