Elephant folio 18 1/2" x 21 3/4". Book Condition: Excellent condition. 1st Printing. Slight soiling on front and back cover. All plates present, 31 pages (19 pages text, 10 colored maps, 1 page Coal Stratigraphic Sections Illustrations, 1 page black and white photographs (12 plates) stiff printed wraps. The magnificent maps depict the Raton, Brilliant and Koehler quadrangles in terms of Areal Geology, Economic Geology, Structural Sections and Topography. The text volume describes the local geology, topography, economic geology (coal) and structural geology of these quadrangles in exquisite detail. These quadrangles are located "...east of the Rocky Mountains and constitute the central part of the coal producing area known the Raton Mesa region or Raton section of the Great Plain Province." This is an excellent and beautiful example of the Geologic Atlas of the United States Folio Series!
