An absolutely marvellous, and very rarely seen, set of Sterling Silver Carver Set designed by Sigvard Bernadotte for Georg Jensen in the late 1930s. This set was produced after 1941 (This particular Georg Jensen hallmark is used from 1941-).Has been used and shows wear (please see photos for details) A letter opener in the exact same pattern was recently valued at DKK 8,000 (approx 1,000 Euro / US$1,550) by Bruun Rasmussen Auction House (fine arts auctioneers) in Copenhagen Marked: Georg Jensen hallmark in dotted circle, Sterling Denmark and Sigvard signature. Steel further marked with the number 14. Knife blade and fork are stainless steel made in England. The sterling silver handles are 4.5 inch (11.5 cm) long each by 7/8 inch (23.5 mm) in diameter The steel is 12 5/8 inch (32 cm) long in total Knife is 12 1/2 inch (31.2 cm) long in total Fork is 10 1/2 inch (26.75 cm) long in total This set showcases the strong design trend which Sigvard Bernadotte introduced for Georg Jensen from the 1930s and onwards. That he was called the Father of Design in Sweden is no surprise! Please see photos for details - Thanks for your interest.
