WHAT A LOVELY HIGH QUALITY MID VICTORIAN CHRISTENING CUP! Here we have a quite splendid solid silver London made cup of most pleasing and highly unusual form. This lovely piece was assayed in London,1868 by high quality maker George Fox-a member of the important Fox family.Year letter n.His mark can be found in Jackson's pocket edition page 56. For reference cup is 3.875 inches in height and 4.75 inches in diameter (including handle),it is thus of good size. A stunning and sturdy mug,its weight is a very good 239 grams (7.68 troy ounces). The condition is very good indeed bar it has a small bruise on one side which is easily rectified.Clearly it has been well looked after and only used on special occasions. It was literally black when i got it and i have cleaned it up as best i can. It is unengraved and always have been. It sits on 3 ball feet-i have not come across a mug of this design before. ALL IN ALL A QUITE LOVELY HEAVY LARGE ANTIQUE CUP OF THE HIGHEST ORDER. PERFECT FOR USE ALL YEAR ROUND. Would make a super present too. Would cost an obscene amount in a good retail outlet-if you could find one quite so nice... Mugs like this are hard to find nowadays as most have been scrapped due to the sky high price of the metal. Very functional, desireable and well worth a bid. Collection is more than welcome.I am located in AMERSHAM near junction 18 of M25 motorways. I will send worldwide by fully insured airmail. A REALLY SPECIAL LOT!! OFFERED WITH NO RESERVE!!!
