Albion Antiek George Jones Oyster Plate Superb Pastel Colors Naturalistic Style This auction is for a stunning George Jones oyster plate. Measuring approx. 10-1/4" across (26 cm) this handsome size dish has 6 oyster wells with raised a seaweed and shell design and a raised well in the center. Although George Jones oyster plates are normally found in majolica (and also this model was made in several majolica versions) this dish is actually white earthenware which was painted in soft pastel colors which gives it a lovely almost mother-of-pearl effect. T have been repairs to a chip on the rim and 3 chips on the raised well in the center, these were filled in and camouflaged so they are hard to see and certainly not detracting. Apart from that this dish is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks and no repairs. T is a bit of age crazing of the glaze but no staining or discoloration.
