This is an original George Nelson flip door hanging wall unit designed for Herman Miller for the commercial market. It is walnut vaneer with aluminum side brackets that hang on track attached to the wall. Along the bottom the aluminum trim is deep so that a recessed light can be installed. Unit comes with two 20" tracks and clips to attach it to the wall. It measures 32" long x 12 1/2 deep x16 1/2" tall. The unit is in great shape, the vaneer on the the door is particularly lovely with an interesting grain . All of the Herman Miller George Nelson pieces are beautifully constructed of matched vaneers (see some photos of other pieces). This is an excellent item and sure to be loved for generations. Seller was privileged to work in the Eames office from 1962-65, as documented on pgs 275-305 in Ray Eames book Eames design, The Work of the Office of Charles and Ray Eames (Harry N. Abrams,Inc. 1989 ). The staff is documented at top of the pages along with on going projects at the time. Seller is now downsizing and will be placing items for auction, including this one. Happy bidding. Buyer to pay actual packing and shipping charges.
