Turned Ash or Maple Wall Clock Designed by George Nelson, for the Howard Miller Clock Co. GEORGE NELSON for HOWARD MILLER turned ash wall clock with black center face, black powder coated metal Roman numerals and white enameled hour and minute hands, and red enameled second hand. This clock is being sold as surplus equipment from the public library in Sunnyside, Washington, which was built and furnished in 1964. It was recently found in a storage cabinet, and we believe it is original equipment from the 1960s which was put away when styles changed. The model number is 04758 (see photo of label). It is 14" in diameter.This model of clock rarely comes up for auction, and when it does the clocks are almost never in such wonderful shape. The condition is beautiful, with no enamel loss on the Roman numerals or black face. The wood body of the clock is also in excellent shape. The finish is smooth and the wood has a warm, wonderful tone; notice the wood grain in photos from front and back. The only possible flaws are: one place in the upper left quadrant w a crack might have been glued (see closeup photo) which you can not see unless you are examining it closely. t is a faint line visible at two lamination joints on the lower part of the clock (see closeup of the number VI).
