GEORGE VI LARGE SOLID OAK DESK / TABLE made 1937 This table was made in 1937, a year after George VI took the throne. This in engraved underneath the table as shown on the last photo. The engraving says G (Crown) R VI , which means "George Reign". Below there is a name FARMER and date made 1937. The desk is in very good condition considering age. All drawers slide in and out as they should. All handles are original brass handles and all of them also have G (Crown) R sign engraved on them. It has a beautiful, rich brown patina. The green leatherette top is original and it shows signs of use, there are some marks and stains on it as well as traces of some heavy objects having been placed on it, but there are no rips or tears. Overall these marks give the desk a true, antique character. There is nothing to repair in it, it will be just a joy to have.
