Welcome! I'mSelling a Beautiful Five Piece White Porcelainite "Fruit Motif" Signed Canister Set By "Georges Briard" - Famed Modern Art Designer From the 1950's and 1960's. Note: Any collector of 50's & 60's Modern Art (Pop Culture) will recognize the name "Georges Baird". You have seen his signature of whimsical (sometimes - down right gaudy) designs on everything from the 50's and 60's including glassware, ceramics & Enamel Wares. His designs incorporated the use of profuse gold plating and colorful Modern art and everything was signed "Georges Briaird". His items and designs were immensely popular then and still are. There's a great book on the market by Leslie Pina entitled: '50s & '60s Glass, Ceramics, & Enamel Wares - Designed & Signed". It's published by Schiffer Publishing Company and features the work of Georges Baird and several other artists. Condition: This Canister set is in unbelievable condition (nearly unused). The colors are vivid, the fruit design beautiful and the gold decoration nearly complete. It's hard to believe that a set that's about 50 years old is still available in this condition today. Description: A 1962 catalog described his porcelainite as: Oven to table ware of triple coated white porcelain-enamel ornamented with gay motifs in rich gold and colorful enamel. As my photos show, this is certainly true!
