Georges Simenon.The House by the Canal Published by Routledge and Kegan Paul, London, 1952. . The first British hardcover edition of a book containing two Flemish stories-the story of the title of the book and The Ostenders .266 pages.Scarce in any English language edition. First edition,first printing .Publisher's original yellow cloth lettered in black to the spine.Clean cloth,bright titles,slight page tanning,sharp corners,no lean.Scattered foxing largely restricted to the page edges.A Very Good book.The dustwrapper is chipped and torn to the head of the spine,dusty to the white portions,has a piece of old tape repair to the blank reverse at the base of the spine(see picture).Price-clipped severely(see picture).A Good only dustwrapper.There are no ownership markings other than the remnants of a small label to the bottom right corner of the front pastedown-presumably an old bookseller's label.
