These are unlike any scissors I've been able to find in research...(Help will be noted.) They were unearthed in Eastport ,Maine~ once a British outpost and 2nd busiest port in the "New World". I would say these are hand-crafted, and the detail is lovely. Condition is not ideal. The handles are bright and clean and I would assume they must be silver, as they show no rust at all. The blades are very rusted and tips are broken, from being underground for however long they were. They are 5 1/2" long. I don't know why they have the loops at the ends of the handles~ to hang from an apron? They seem MUCH to large to have been "chatelaine" scissors. I don't know if they are "continental" or even early American~ but they are unique. Not usable, but I've got great romantic tales and historic notions in my head...Someone must love these.
