Georgian Silver Black Dot Paste Brooch c1800 An openwork Brooch has decorative shaped pastes each with a black dot behind them to give the appearance of a Diamond. They are set in Silver. The two central panels of pastes have a Gold top to the setting. To the reverse is a clasp and safety chain. The design and craftsmanship of this Brooch dates it to the Georgian period, circa 1800. Sizing, Marks and Condition The Brooch is 50mm by 33mm or 2 inches by 1 3/8 inch. Weight is 17.2g. Unmarked, tests as Silver. In good condition. One paste is missing, as pictured. The clasp has been reattached, probably during the Victorian period. Will be sent with a new presentation case.
