GEORGIAN VICTORIAN FRENCH JET MOURNING LOCKET BROOCH WITH PHOTO An unusual Georgian/early Victorian mourning brooch. The brooch is typically small in size for this period and set with 8 faceted black glass (French jet) stones. The inner frame and reverse of brooch have also been blackened for mourning purposes. The locket centre holds a photograph of a young man which I believe would have been added later (possibly in late 19th/early 20th century). There is a clear cover over the photo. The brooch has its original fittings to reverse; tube hinge, pin and 'c' clasp. In good overall condition for very great age; the tiny outer black glass 'dots' are mostly missing but so being so small, this is hardly noticeable. Also one of the small black glass stones between the 8 larger ones is missing. Measures: 2.6cm by 2.2cm. Photos give very clear detail of this charming early mourning brooch. Please Note: Royal Mail substantially increased their postage prices w.e.f. 30/04/12 meaning that I have finally had to raise my shipping prices after 2 years. The impacts of these increases will be felt all across ebay but I have still kept my prices as low as possible. As always, your custom is deeply appreciated and I aim to provide a 1st class service for all my buyers. UK Bidders : Paypal, Postal Order or Personal Cheque (clearance required)
