His name in Navajo was Toh Yah which translates as - Walking by the River. Nailor's works are displayed in museums and are sought by collectors worldwide.
His use of line and color can only be considered as masterful.

Gerald Nailor was one of the most talented Navajo Artists of his Century. Born at Pinedale, New Mexico in 1917. He attended the Santa Fe Indian School
w he was encouraged to develop his artistic talents. Later, he became friends and worked with the great American artists Allan Houser and Harrison Begay. In 1942, Nailor was commissioned to paint the mural in the Navajo Tribal Council House in Window Rock, Arizona, and also chosen to
paint several murals in Washington, D.C.

While making a living as a rancher, he married, and had three children. Nailor died at the young age of thirty-five, when he tried to stop a man from beating his wife near his home in New Mexico.
Nailor was severely injured, and later died in a Taos Hospital on August 13, 1952. His tragic death ended a highly successful artistic career before its time.

The Serigraph was framed long ago in Albuquerque, and has
the slightest fading of a prior matting, although that
does not detract being barely discernible.
In other words, this is an old work of Nailor's.
