Offered today for the 84/98 collector is a beautiful matched 1939 dated F.HERDER. I have decided to concentrate on late war bayonets and will be listing the earlier examples from my collection. I am reluctant to describe an almost 70 year old item as mint. This one however appears not to have seen any service use. The blade is almost perfect, marked F.HERDER A Sn, numbered 2392 in f block and would rate an easy 99%, no nicks or pitting present, negligible bright spots from contact with the scabbard runners and at the very tip of the blade,39 on spine. Guard shows some bright spots were it has rubbed against the frog. Near perfect bakelite grips, undamaged screw slots. Flash guard shows some fine scratch marks and spots of pin-prick oxidation as does the pommel. WaA 253 proofs on pommel and release button. Scabbard is also in super condition, rates at least 98%, matched to the blade. The finish not covered by the frog has dulled a little over time.
