*** EBAY... THIS GERMAN KNIFE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EBAY PROHIBITED SYMBOLS, NAMES, OR WHATEVER ON IT. THESE ARE COMPLETE PICTURES. NOTHING IS CONCEALED OR BLOCKED OUT . This auction is for an original German K98 Field / Service Bayonet that was Army issued. It comes with its original matching scabbard and brown leather frog. The blade has the makers name of Horster on one side and a serial # 6444 on the other side. This same serial number is also on the scabbard. This bayonet measures 15.25" in overall length. The blade measures just under 10". The blade on this bayonet is in perfect condition, showing only some in / out wear on the blue finish from being removed / replaced in the metal scabbard. The blade retains its factory edge & tip. The blade looks like it never saw any field use. The brown bakelite / composite grip plates are in excellant condition with no breaks or cracks. T is no use damage or wear to the pommel, only light rust from storage. The matching metal scabbard shows the same type of light rust on it. The ball on the bottom of the scabbard has the little German stamping / proofmark as does the top side of the pommel on the bayonet. The button on the handle of the bayonet, for attaching / releasing to the K98 / KAR98 rifle, functions perfectly. The scabbard retains its original brown leather frog. Not too sure, but I was once told that the brown frogs were for issue to the Luftwaffe / German Air Force. I guess it could be Army or Luftwaffe. It looks to me that the frog was never removed from the scabbard, It is still securely on the scabbard, and if you slide it up or down on the scabbard, you can see w the light surface rust / wear stops / starts in relation to the leather frog. The frog is in great shape. T is no damage or repairs, only honest use / age. I do not see any markings / stampings on the frog. Overall, this is a great matching set. The only drawback is the light rust that formed from being stored for many years. Someone might be able to clean up / treat the rust. It's not too often that you find a field bayonet with a blued blade that is in as perfect condition as this one. This will be a great deal for someone. I will be listing this bayonet without a reserve and with a low opening bid. Over the next few weeks, I will be listing a luger holster, along with G43 items and some other military items from Germany. Postage for this bayonet within the US will be $9.00 for Priority Mail Service w/Delivery Confirmation. Payment is expected within ten days and can be made via Paypal or Money Order. I do my best to ship the same, or very next Postal Service day from when payment is made / received. Thanks.
