EARLY BLACK FOREST CARVED WALL CLOCK
We are in the process of thinning out my Black Forest collection. I have acquired most of my collection from many trips to southern Germany and Austria. Please see my other listings for more quality Black Forest items. This listing features a VERY EARLY and VERY LARGE black forest clock. This case is carved to death with leaves and flowers. It is a very busy case. The wood shows a nice rich patina. The dial and movement appear to have been added later, however the movement is a old high quality Seth Thomas, and running. It is a 30 day movement with two large springs. What you are actually bidding on of course is this outstanding case. The movement and dial are free with the clock. The carving is extremely detailed and features exceptional workmanship. The carving is that of the early master carvers. This is a gigantic case which measures 2 feet, 4 inches high, 18 inches wide, and 3 inches deep. The dial is 10 inches in diameter. The entire carving was done from one piece of wood! As shown in the photographs, the condition is excellent. There is some minor chipping from age. We are listing this item with a .99 cents opening bid, with no reserve. High bidder gets the deal. Pleased to announce that THERE ARE NO CHIPS TO BE FOUND. There is a clock listed in Germany, Item 300529404907. It shows the typical dial configuration for this clock.
