This is a 100% original German helmet liner. The liner will fit into an M35, M40 or M42 German helmet in size 66. The leather is size 59, but the band is 58, probably a mix up when the liner was being put together. This liner came out of a German helmet that was re-worked by the Norwegians post-war. The liner has been brought back to German war-time specs, by removing the red dye on the leather and replacing the brass liner rivets with correct aluminum (reproduction) ones. The leather is a little rough around the edges with a some cracking around the base, however it will still display nicely. The back of the leather has some great maker stamps, and also the name of a German soldier. The 60 stamp does not indicate the current size. The maker cut the leather to size 60, it was later cut down to size 59 by the liner manufacture. The liner is dated 1940 and was made by Schuberthwerke. Please let me know if you have questions. I offer a life time guarentee that this liner is a original German WWII item.
